Apartment rent would cost about rm500-1000 per month. 3 meals - for 1 person: Breakfast - Rm2 Lunch - Rm5 Dinner - Rm5 Total: Rm12 x 3 = rm36 perday rm36 x i month(31 days) = rm1116 <--could be less Bus/Train - Depends on the distance. Probably rm5 for 2 way travel per day. You family will be traveling with you everyday by bus/train? If yes then, Rm5x3 = Rm15 x 31 days = Rm465 MAXIMUM total: RM2,581 It COULD BE LESS. If you want to save money, look for a house that is near to your working place to save on transport. Also, the transport company usually have offer - if you travel everyday, you can get a card for everyday travel it would only cost you less than RM100 per month. For children below 12, would cost cheaper and some are free. For family of 3, flat house if good enough. Not too big, and not too small. Usually comes with 2 bedrooms,1 toilet, and a kitchen.
