If you're a Malaysian, yes. If you're a foreigner in Malaysia on a student visa - then, no. The student visa doesn't allow one to work.

Foreign students are not allowed to work, unless it is part of a course of study .....[industrial traning requires work pemit]. A local student can have paid employment only during the official school hoilays.
